Solar Heating For Home
We are lucky enough to own an earth-sheltered house with excellent winter weather inactive solar warm obtain. We actually have air conditioning we don't have to buy from a public utility. It's actually free!
Free is excellent.
Our house was designed in 1976. The long side of our house encounters southwest and one short end encounters south. One corner between the 2 factors points about magnetic due south.
The 2 northern factors, both northeast and northwest are protected some by world in the form of a beginning sunlight underground room and also by a windbreak of plants and bushes planted on a hill that goes up higher than our house in the yard.
Most of our plants are wood. In the drop the simply leaves drop and we get lots of sun during wintertime months season. We only have to warm the property a little on cloudy or cold days.
But in summer time the simply leaves come returning and shade us from summer time season sun and keep us awesome without air conditioning. We never pay to awesome our house in summer time. No cost is GOOD! The only electricity we buy runs our appliances. We remove anything with a designed in timer at night.
Any house can be constructed like ours is. And more world sheltering would keep you awesome even in hot climates. All of the characteristics our house has are easy to develop in to any house and would not cost any more than any other house to develop. Solar Heating For Home
But it can get better, too.
Better insulation and systems are often aspect of building codes that did not exist when our house was designed. And maintaining cold and warm out is aspect of what can make any house more cost effective. Keeping the warm inside during the cold months months season and outside in summer time means the house will always be cheaper to run over the lifetime of the house.
Windows also play a role in warming and chilling a house. We have double lite Andersen ms windows that are really excellent even though they are pretty old. We also have metal blinds that we use to help control both summer time warm obtain and winter weather warm loss.
Our garage area is also a sunlight underground room space. In 14 cold winter seasons with lows sometimes below O we have never had a bottle of water or anything else freeze in either our garage area or our house. The garage area is unheated but never gets below cold with the insulated steel door closed.
So world sheltering and inactive solar and inactive chilling are saving us big money and maintaining us comfortable, too. Solar Heating For Home
